WHEN WILL THE MISERY END?

This season the hopes were high. Afterall Jamshedpur FC were the defending Shield Champions. Everyone was expecting that they will reach new heights in this season and might even end up winning their first ISL Trophy.  However, their performance has been far from satisfactory. Out of 7 games played this season they have won only 1. Currently they are placed 10th in a 11-team league. It is close to impossible for them to defend the Shield title. Furthermore, it is even difficult for them to make into the semi-finals of the ISL. It has a become a season which no one wants to remember. But this is how football is. Unpredictable. However, this the time to back our team. Yes. As a Jamshedpur FC fan I am sad because of my team's performance. But I will keep on cheering for them.

THE MISERY CONTINUES

Chelsea F.C. did not have a great start to the season. As a result, the Chelsea Board sacked Thomas Tuchel and appointed Graham Potter as the new head coach of the Blues. Post Potter's arrival, Blues did well in the UEFA Champions League and have qualified for the round of 16 wherein they will now face German side Borussia Dortmund.

However, their performance has been far from satisfactory in the League. Chelsea F.C are currently 8th in the league and have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup. Their players are struggling, and the coach has run out of ideas. Luckily because of FIFA World Cup, the club football has come to a halt.

Before the club football resumes in last week of December, Graham Potter needs to find solution to all the miseries. Or else it will be too late.

IRANIANS STAND STRONG

Before the start of the World Cup a number of Western European teams were planning to wear the One Love armband to show their support for the LGBTIQ. However, after FIFA's announcement that players wearing such arm bands can face sanctions, the players decided not to wear the same.

On the other hand, the Iranian Football Team refused to sing the national anthem as a sign of protest. The Iranian players did this act to support the protestors back home who have been protesting against the oppressive Iranian regime since the murder of Mahsa Amini. It is pertinent to note that for this act the Iranian footballers can face jail terms when they return back home. But still they decided to do the same.  Afterall there is something called conscience.

IS IT THE END OF RONALDO AT MANCHESTER?

Yesterday Cristiano Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan was released on the web which has shocked the entire footballing world. It was known to everyone that everything was not well between the Manager and the player. However, such is the tension. No one could have ever imagined that.

The accusations which Ronaldo has made has put the club in an embarrassing position. Many have started speculating that after the World Cup, Manchester United will release Ronaldo. After all no player can ever be given a status bigger than the club.

When Cristiano retuned to Manchester in August 2021, everyone was excited to see him back. But, after the recent incidences, I guess no United fan will be sad if he departs in the New Year Transfer Window.

How time Changes.

[Postscript- Cristiano Ronaldo has been released by Manchester United] [Dec. 7, 2022].

HOW TIME CHANGES

In the UEFA Champions League Season of 2007-08, FC Barcelona faced Manchester United in the semi-final stage of the competition. A semi-final stage is always a big stage, but it became even bigger because the footballing world witnessed a clash between the rising stars of the game Lionel Messi [FCB] and Cristiano Ronaldo [MAN UTD].

The first leg at Camp Nou ended in a 0-0 draw. Whereas the second leg ended in a 1-0 win for the Red Devils. Courtesy - Paul Scholes screamer. The Red Devils eventually lifted the Champions League Trophy in Moscow after beating Chelsea in penalty shootout. A few months later Cristiano Ronaldo won his first Ballon D'Or award for his remarkable performance in the 2007-08 season.

In the 2008-09 Champions League Season, Manchester United faced F.C. Barcelona in the finals at Rome. However, this time the Catalans played far better football and won the finals 2-0. Six months later Lionel Messi won his first Ballon D'Or trophy. However, the final turned out to be the last game for Cristiano as a Manchester United player as he left the Red Devils in the summer of 2009 for the Galacticos.

A couple of years later the final of 2009 was repeated and F.C. Barcelona again won the Champions League trophy by beating Manchester United 3-1 in Wembley.

8 years later both the sides met again in the quarterfinals of the tournament. And again F.C. Barcelona emerged victorious and marched into the semi-finals of the tournament before being knocked out by Liverpool F.C in the semi-final.

However now the time has changed. Now these two sides are clashing against each other in the round of 32 of the Europa League Trophy [2022-23]. Alas. How the Giants have fallen.
