19th January 2023. A day which no football fan will ever forget. King Fahd International Stadium witnessed the clash of two all-time greats for one last time. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were up against each other again. Paris Saint- Germain were facing Riyadh XI. Lionel Messi against Cristiano Ronaldo.
And Boy. What a game it turned out to be. In the opening minutes of the game Lionel Messi scored the first goal for his side. However, in the 34th minute Cristiano Ronaldo equalized for Riyadh XI. Furthermore, in the 43rd minute Marquinhos scored the second goal for PSG. But just before half time Ronaldo levelled it again.
The goal fest continued in the second half as well and the game ended Riyadh XI 4- 5 PSG. However, it is pertinent to note that this game will not be remembered for only goals and action. But it will be remembered for being the last chapter of the epic rivalry between the two all-time greats.
When the final whistle was blown there were tears in the eyes. Afterall something very great came to an end.
